With the success of his Houston Hair Guy brand, Kurt now launched his very own private salon suite experience called The Bokn Hair Studio. Named after the rural township Bokn (pronounced "boh-kin" meaning book) in the Vatnaland Islands of Norway where his father's side emigrated by boat & thus the shortened last name of "Vatland" was actually dawned. The Bokn Hair Studio is an ode to his late father & his own motto of living a life worthy of a great read. The Bokn Hair Studio, let your story begin here.

"Rock Star Hair Stylist"
Kurt graduated the "original mothership" Aveda Institute in Minneapolis in 2009 followed by an understudy with Twin Cities famed hairstylist, the late Ricky Ficocello. He then went on to the award winning Salon Montage, also of Twin Cities lore. At the same time Kurt's musical aspirations were taking him on tour to Europe, in rotation on Hollywood's famed Sunset Strip & across the US, performing alongside several multi platinum selling bands. San Diego, Denver & Las Vegas even became homes along the way until Kurt was called back to Minnesota for his father cancer treatments. There he continued with his hair talents with the NFL's Minnesota Viking Cheerleaders as an official Glam Squad Stylist for multiple seasons. After the passing of his father, Kurt returned to Houston in July of 2022.
Now once again making music, the recent premiere of his ’Escape’ video/single begins a cascade of new songs from the ‘Love For Losers’ EP (due out 2025), mastered by 2023 Grammy winner Harold LaRue. More TBA.

“Humble Beginnings.”
Kurt is from small town Minnesota but always had a Texas heart thanks to family residing here in Houston since the early 80's. Where ever Kurt lived he was surrounded by greatness in the industry, but while in California he experienced a personal reinvention from the salon chair so powerful his own stylist urged him to pursue an obvious desire to recreate the experience for others. Helping others feel good about themselves is a gift & Kurt truly has it. From hair to music, Kurt is an artist by definition.
